Suarez: “Antoine will always have our support”

Luis Suárez appeared in the Movistar LaLiga 'flash interview' to analyze the 1-0 victory, the Uruguayan's goal, against Espanyol.

Do you have the feeling of being more practical than brilliant?

We knew it was going to be difficult because of our wear and tear and it showed in the intensity.

Cost much?

They played with five defenders and did well. It was a great approach and we were able to take advantage of the spaces with one less player.

The expulsions?

I don't see Ansu's or theirs either. That's what the VAR is for.

Did you talk to Setien about the alternative of the system change?

The coach is the one who decides. Antoine will always have our support.

Is there confidence in winning LaLiga?

Our goal is to earn what we have left. If the opponent clicks, the better, but we think about ours.

Luis Suárez beats Kubala

The striker Luis Suárez has achieved, with the victory over RCD Espanyol (1-0) in the derby of day 35 of LaLiga Santander, his 195th goal with the Barcelona shirt and beats Ladislao Kubala to be third club's highest historical scorer.

Although it was difficult to finish the season, the stoppage due to the coronavirus has allowed the Uruguayan to play the final stretch of LaLiga and break a new record, by surpassing the 194 goals scored by Kubala with Barça and placing himself on the podium of top gunners in the history of Barcelona.

The striker beat Josep Samitier's 184 goals this season, on October 29 with a goal against Real Valladolid, and his competitive eagerness, despite returning from a long knee injury, also leads him to overcome the legendary Spanish-Hungarian striker.

Suárez already only has two players ahead in the scorers table: his friend Leo Messi, with 630, and César, with 232. Thus, he is only 37 goals away from becoming the second highest scorer in the club's history.

The Uruguayan arrived at the club in the summer of 2014 and, despite the FIFA sanction that prevented him from making his debut at the beginning of the season, he finished that campaign with 25 goals to his credit. In the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons it transformed 59; 2017/18 scored 37 goals; and last season (2018/19) he made 31. This season, Suárez has already drilled the rival goal 18 times despite missing several games due to injury.

During his six years as a culé, Barça 9 has played a total of 278 matches between all competitions and the goals have been distributed as follows: 146 have been in the League, 23 in the Champions, 19 in the Copa del Rey , five in the Club World Cup, one in the Spanish Super Cup and one in the European Super Cup.
