MADRID, 22 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish women’s futsal team won (2-7) this Saturday over Finland in the last qualifying match for the 2023 European Championship and will be in the Final Four of the continental tournament, where it will defend the title achieved in the first two editions.
Claudia Pons’s women successfully settled their visit to Finland in a match that started in an unbeatable way, but in which the locals refused to throw in the towel. It took only 24 seconds for Spain to open the can and, without their rivals touching the ball, Vane Sotelo scored the first after a shot with his left foot. After three minutes, Vane Sotelo herself did the second and in less than a minute another two arrived. The first was the work of Ale de Paz and the second by Lauermaa at his own goal.
Finland did not give up and after a time out adjusted the defense and managed to take a step forward. Lind’s goal, after a Spanish defensive indecision, gave him wings. The locals began to play their best minutes and in another set piece it was 2-4, also the work of Lind. This time it was Claudia Pons who had to ask for time out, and it was also effective. Shortly after returning to the track, Dany made it 2-5, which gave some peace of mind and with which the break was reached.
The second period started like the first, Mayte cut the Finnish service play, led a counter and gave Vane Sotelo to make it 2-6. However, the goal did not change Finland’s plans, which took the game to a more physical terrain where they were more comfortable, but they could not close the gap and Spain closed the game with the seventh and final goal, the work of Mayte Mateo.
