MADRID, 6 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish badminton team beat Sweden 4-1 this Wednesday at the start of the qualification for the European Team Championship, the Iberdrola 2024 European Women's Team Championships Qualification that is held at the CAR in Madrid.

The High Performance Center, the same room where they train daily, left a first victory for Spain led by the triple world champion and Olympic champion in 2016 Carolina Marín, who won the first point over Cecilia Wang by 21 -13 and 21-18. “The feelings have been good, practicing things that I am training,” said Marín after her victory.

Next, Spain approached the first series with the undisputed victory of Clara Azurmendi over Mirjam Lindgärde by 21-7 and 21-14. Thus, the doubles formed by Paula López and Lucía Rodríguez achieved the definitive victory over Sweden, with a 21-14, 21-10 against Malena Norrman and Ronak Olyaee to make it 3-0.

Despite having the victory assured, the Spanish team fought for the plenary session, which escaped them in the last point. Thus, the host equaled Italy's performance at the start of the day in Madrid, with a 4-1 victory against Luxembourg that will be Spain's second rival this Thursday, at the Joaquín Blume High Performance Center.

Ania Setién defeated Elin Ryberg (21-10, 21-18), while the doubles of Clara Azurmendi and Bea Corrales fell to Moa Sjoo and Tilda Sjoo, giving Spain its first defeat, with a 12-21, 17-21.
