Spain announces the 15 shortlisted for the Fukuoka Swimming World Cup

The Royal Spanish Swimming Federation (RFEN) has published this Tuesday the provisional list of 15 swimmers qualified for the Fukuoka World Cup (Japan), which will be held from July 14 to 30, and which will be final when the second qualifying championship is held. , the Mare Nostrum-Ciutat de Barcelona International Trophy for the month of May.

Ángela Martínez, in 800 free; Carmen Weiler, in 100 backstroke; Africa Zamorano, in the 200 backstroke; and Carlos Garach, in 800 and 1,500 free; They had already qualified directly after achieving the minimum during the Spanish Championship-Spring Open.

They have been joined by Emma Carrasco, in 200 and 400 styles; Paula Otero, in 400 and 1,500 free; Alba Vázquez, in 400 styles; and Carles Coll, in 200 styles; who achieved consideration marks and minimum FINA A for the world championship. Figures of the stature of Mireia Belmonte, Hugo González, Nico García or Jimena Pérez still aspire to qualify.

The women’s 4×100 medley relay will be made up of Carmen Weiler, Paula Juste, Jessica Vall and Ainhoa ​​Campabadal, and the first two will also participate in the mixed 4×100 medley together with Carles Coll and Luis Domínguez.

In the men’s 4×100 and 4×200 freestyle and women’s 4×200 freestyle relays, the RFEN has selected the first swimmers of the corresponding individual event during the Spanish Open, while the other two places will remain open until the celebration of the Mare Nostrum-Ciutat de Barcelona . Thus, Luis Domínguez (men’s 4×100 and 4×200 freestyle), Sergio de Celis (men’s 4×100 freestyle), César Castro (men’s 4×200 freestyle), Ainhoa ​​Campabadal (women’s 4×200 freestyle) and Alba Herrero (women’s 4×200 freestyle) have already qualified.

As explained by the RFEN, all the marks achieved in Q1 -the Spring Open- will be taken into account for the final selection of the full team, having the same value as those achieved in Q2 -Mare Nostrum-Ciutat de Barcelona- . In addition, some of the swimmers already classified may have the possibility to participate in the events in which there are vacant places, as long as you understand that it does not affect the participation of the events for which you have obtained the selection.
