The American tennis player Serena Williams indicated this Tuesday that she “always” will want to “be involved in some way” with tennis, after announcing that she will leave professional sports after the US Open, the last ‘Grand Slam’ of her career and tournament that has won six times.

“I will never retire from something that I absolutely love,” the tennis player confessed to Meghan Markle on the duchess’s new Spotify podcast.

The 40-year-old player has won 23 Grand Slams, in addition to adding 14 doubles championships in a brilliant career spanning more than two decades. “I will always have some kind of involvement in tennis. Maybe not professionally, but I will always want to be involved in some way with tennis. Obviously, I will retire professionally, but it is also an evolution”, valued the athlete.

Williams also outlined her plans for the future, revealing that she wants to “expand” her family. “You know I’ve put it off for a long time,” she added on the podcast.

“As a woman, there is only one time to postpone these plans, while other people, other men, can continue to play. The best thing I can do is be a mother, I think I can do very well,” Williams settled on the subject.
