Santiago Gómez Pintado, candidate for the presidency of Real Madrid in 1995, dies

The businessman Santiago Gómez Pintado, candidate for the presidency of Real Madrid in 1995, has died at the age of 85, the white club confirmed on Tuesday.

“Real Madrid CF, its president and its Board of Directors deeply regret the death of Santiago Gómez Pintado, who was a candidate for the club’s presidency in 1995. He had been a member of Real Madrid since 1991. Real Madrid would like to express its condolences and his love and affection to all his family and loved ones,” the Madrid entity said in a statement.

With the motto ‘Good for Madrid’, Gómez Pintado stood in the elections for the club’s presidency in 1995, in which he competed with Florentino Pérez, current head of the entity, and Ramón Mendoza, who won those elections.

In addition, he was president of Otaysa, the company that sponsored Real Madrid during the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons.
