The draw for the first round of the Copa del Rey 2023-24 held this Tuesday at the Ciudad del Fútbol of Las Rozas (Madrid) has yielded 55 pairings between teams from the First and Second Division, First RFEF, Second RFEF, Third RFEF and Regional , among which the duels of the modest Rubí, Hernán Cortés and Buñol against the champions Athletic Club, Real Betis and Real Sociedad, respectively, stand out.

Athletic Club, the second team with the most Copa del Rey titles (23), will face Catalan Rubí, in the regional category, in the first round of the competition. Meanwhile, Real Betis and Real Sociedad, champions of the competition in 2022 and 2020, respectively, will do the same against Hernán Cortés from Extremadura and Buñol from Valencia, also from Regional. The first round of the Copa del Rey 23-24 has crossed 10 teams from the regional category with another 10 teams from LaLiga EA Sports. In addition, another 10 First Division teams will face teams from the Third RFEF or those that have entered the tournament through the Federation Cup.

On the other hand, the 20 LaLiga Hypermotion teams participating in the draw have been paired with 2 teams from Tercera RFEF and 18 from Segunda RFEF, while the remaining 25 matches will pit 24 Primera RFEF teams against teams from Segunda RFEF, being a single match facing teams from the same category, CDE Ursaria-CD Cayón, both from the fourth category of Spanish football.

The first round matches of the Cup will be played on October 31 and November 1 and 2, with the lower category club playing as the home team. In the case of CDE Ursaria-CD Cayón, which share the same category, the team that will play at home has been dictated by the order of extraction of the ball during the draw.

Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, ​​Atlético de Madrid and Osasuna, who will compete in the Spanish Super Cup from January 10 to 14 in Saudi Arabia, are exempt from the first two rounds of the tournament, so they will compete in the knockout tournament. starting from the round of 32.
