Wayne Rooney returns to DC United. English has officially become the new coach of the North American team, where he already played for two years (between 2018 and 2019) in his stage as a footballer.
“Wayne is a soccer legend and one of the most exciting and dynamic up-and-coming coaches in our sport. He has already shown in his young coaching career that he knows how to lead a group through adversity,” said Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan, DC United co-chairmen.

Rooney joined DC United in June 2018 as a star player. During his time with the red and blacks, the Englishman appeared in 48 matches, scoring 23 goals and assisting another 15. He was named an MLS Best XI in 2018, an All-Star in 2019 and was an MLS MVP finalist in 2018.
