Riquelme announces that he does not appear in the elections

The 32-year-old businessman from Alicante alleges that the deadlines for the call for elections, which he envisaged in summer, have made it impossible for him to present his candidacy and launch a campaign to expose his project for Real Madrid to members. His team, he emphasizes, had been preparing the candidacy with the horizon that the elections would be held in summer.

Riquelme reiterates that he does not renounce his candidacy to preside over Real Madrid, but that he postpones it in time and officially confirms his intention to stand for the next elections to the Board of Directors of the white club.

The deadline for submitting candidatures ends the day after tomorrow, Monday, April 12. So far, the only official candidate is the current president Florentino Pérez, who formalized his candidacy before the Electoral Board on Friday. If no other candidacy is presented, Pérez will be proclaimed again as president this week, between Tuesday 13 and Thursday 15.
