Renfe, Official Train of the Spanish Paralympic Team until the Paris 2024 Games

The presidents of the railway company and the Spanish Paralympic Committee have renewed this Wednesday the agreement in force since 2008

MADRID, 12 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Renfe will be the Official Train of the Spanish Paralympic Team during the years 2023 and 2024, until the Paralympic Games to be held in Paris next year, according to the agreement signed this Wednesday between the presidents of Renfe, Raül Blanco, and the Spanish Paralympic Committee ( CPE), Miguel Carballeda.

The relationship between both entities began in 2008 and since then the Spanish railway operator has accompanied elite athletes with disabilities in five cycles of preparation for the Paralympic Games.

Thanks to the support of Renfe, within the group of companies belonging to the ADOP Plan, Paralympic athletes have the necessary means to obtain scholarships and aid for training, to attend a greater number of concentrations and international competitions or to have the best technicians, coaches, support staff, specific sports equipment or medical services, among others.

The agreement with the Spanish Paralympic Team is one more example of Renfe’s commitment “to improve the lives of people with disabilities, joining its line of action to promote accessibility, with initiatives such as assistance for people with disabilities and mobility reduction on trains, or the extension of the gold card to all people with a legal certificate of disability”, the railway company indicates in a note.

SPORT TRAIN

Likewise, Renfe underlined its commitment as a Sports Train, since it offers a sustainable mode of transport that is respectful of the environment, by generating zero carbon emissions in all its electric trains, for Spanish athletes with and without disabilities.

Renfe has signed agreements with numerous sports clubs; federations and different sports entities such as the Higher Sports Council (CSD) to offer their services for their trips thanks to the environmental benefits of this mode of transport.
