Real Sociedad loses Mikel Merino and Andoni Gorosabel for several weeks

MADRID, 19 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Real Sociedad has confirmed this Thursday the injuries of Andoni Gorosabel, who has a sprained right ankle, suffered during the match against RCD Mallorca last Tuesday in the Copa del Rey, and of Mikel Merino, who suffered a biceps injury left femoral during the same encounter.

“Andoni Gorosabel has a sprained right ankle, suffered during the match against RCD Mallorca. Mikel Merino suffered a left femoral biceps injury during the same match,” the club said in a statement on its website.

The two players will miss out, in addition to this Saturday’s game against Rayo Vallecano in Vallecas, next week’s Copa del Rey quarterfinals, the duel against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu on January 29 and the visit of Valladolid on February 5.

“Neither one nor the other arrive at the Bernabéu. We’re going to see how Gorosabel evolves because it’s an already damaged ankle. And Merino I think we won’t have it in three weeks. We’re going to see how the hamstring evolves. We’re going to go one day to day because I do not want to venture either. This type of injury in each player is a world, “said the coach of Real Sociedad, Imanol Alguacil, at a press conference.

The ‘txuri-urdin’ team also reported that both footballers have already begun to be treated with physiotherapy and carry out a personalized work plan and that they will return to their usual activities depending on the evolution and characteristics of the respective injuries.
