MADRID, 17 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
RC Polo and Club de Campo were proclaimed champions of the Copa del Rey and Copa de la Reina Iberdrola field hockey, held in Málaga and Benalmádena, after beating Atlètic Terrassa this Sunday in the shoot outs (2-2 , 4-2) and Junior FC (0-1).
On the La Estupa field in Benalmádena, RC Polo won its 32nd Cup, once again frustrating Xavi Gasol’s team, who were left without a title in the shoot outs for the second consecutive year.
Iñazi Zaldúa put the Barcelona team ahead, who doubled their lead just before the start of the second half through Marc Recasens. Pepe Cunill scored for Atlético Terrassa, coming close to equalizing until Pau Cunill scored. In the last quarter, the fatigue of the three games leading up to the final was noticeable and the shoot outs were decided.
Meanwhile, Club de Campo won the 2024 Queen’s Cup title, avenging the defeat against the Catalan team in the last ‘Final Four’. Not much happened in the first 30 minutes of the game and in the third quarter Club de Campo scored the only goal of the game through Begoña García.
The Country Club knew how to be patient to hold on to the advantage and win a title that they had close to last year and that they lost on their field against RC Polo.
