Rafa Benítez, relieved with the departure of James to Qatar

James Rodríguez is a closed chapter at Everton. After confirming his signing to Al Rayyan from the Qatar Stars League, The English team is already focused on its next challenges and even has some reinforcements in mind, in the winter market, to fill the vacancy left by the Colombian, who did not add minutes this season.

Rafa Benítez was asked at a press conference, prior to the game against Norwich, about the departure of James and he assured that handling situations with the midfielder was complicated, as he could not be 100% for the Toffees' matches in the English league. He also assured that his departure generates money for future signings.

“That's not something we can handle. When you have a player which may only be available for 50% of matches overall in the Premier League, not something we can easily handle. We have to maximize the resources we have, that's the situation, “Benítez explained.

“It's not easy to find good deals when you want, you have to manage the deals when they are there. We couldn't find the right ones before (deals), this was the right one for him, he's happy with it and we have to do it. What I will say is that we have to maximize our resources, “the technician added.

James failed to play any official match with Everton since the arrival of Benítez. The player could only be in the Florida Cup friendlies against Millonarios and Pumas de México and in yet another preparation game against Manchester United.
