PSG say goodbye to the ghosts of past comebacks

PSG had numerous pending accounts in the tie against Bayern and this Tuesday settled, perhaps not all, but a large part of them. The Parisian team was looking for a redemption in this Champions League and it was what they found when they knocked out the current champion of the competition in a fast-paced tie that delighted the most exquisite. There were not as many goals in Paris as in Munich, but there was no lack of excitement and spectacle.

Mauricio Pochettino's PSG settled scores resisting the bravery and pride of Hansi Flick's Bayern. The French, led by the best version of Neymar, took revenge for the final lost last year in Lisbon in an exercise of resistance and suffering. In addition to savoring a sweet 'vendetta', the Parisians dispelled the ghosts of past comebacks by slowing down the Bavarian roller.

PSG had in his mind the mishaps experienced at the hands of FC Barcelona and Manchester United, who despite an adverse result in the first leg had managed to overcome the impotence of Paris. With Pochettino, all this is left behind and the French team shook off the fear that so many times prevented them from having a greater success.

Bayern fell like a giant, but fell. For the German team, he raised a comeback over low heat that was half cooked despite the insistence of his players, who never gave up. What would have happened to Lewandowski on the field? Would history have changed? We will never know, but the dedication and perseverance of the group led by Hansi Flick is to be applauded.

Neymar Show

Neymar's story deserves a separate chapter. The Brazilian showed that when he starts to play, few or almost none are up to his level. The Parisian '10' finally offered his best version to lead a PSG that opts to win its first Champions League.

What happened yesterday was fireworks; bicycles, footsteps, feints, impossible dribbles … Neymar brought out his extensive catalog of magicians to the delight of football lovers. His ‘face B’, that of a Mr. Hyde who is news for parties, controversies and irreverent character, was placated by the enormous footballer that he is.

From his boots the best chances of the Parisian team were born, but only the sticks – he threw up to two times against the wood – prevented his masterful performance from having the goal award. Luckily for PSG, it was not necessary.
