(Previous) Liverpool wants to raise its head against a City on the lookout for Arsenal

MADRID, 14 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Manchester City and Liverpool will focus the spotlight on the closing of the tenth day of the Premier League, a duel where the ‘reds’ play their aspirations immersed in the middle of the table and the ‘citizens’ continue to lie in wait for Arsenal, who will defend the lead against Leeds United.

The dominators of the last five Premier meet at Anfield, where Jurgen Klopp’s team, irregular in its debut, has practically said goodbye to its fight for the title in the middle of October. Their two wins, four draws and two defeats in domestic competition distance them from the clear favorites -to date- Arsenal and Manchester City, who have 14 and 13 points ahead of them respectively.

Now it is only worth winning so as not to give up ground in the ‘Big Six’, where one more defeat would bring them closer to the fight for permanence instead of the fight for Europe. And they will do it after beating Rangers (1-7) in the Champions League; and without the Colombian winger Luis Díaz, with a knee injury that probably will not allow him to attend the World Cup in Qatar.

On the other hand, Manchester City is still going strong for the lead. A fight in which Guardiola’s men do not cease in their repeated attempt day after day, with goals included since September. The ‘citizens’ have already reached the top of the table, led by Erling Haaland, who scored his fifteenth goal in the Premier in the victory (4-0) against Southampton.

The machine continues in full operation and will try to continue with its effectiveness against its greatest rival in recent years. A crucial duel that they will face already knowing the result of Mikel Arteta’s men, who will face Leeds United hours before.

Precisely, Arsenal beat Liverpool (3-2) on the last day to continue strong and reaffirm themselves as the most regular team so far this season. To maintain their well-deserved favourites, they will have to overcome a team that wants to keep moving away from relegation.

For their part, Manchester United and Newcastle are also attracting attention in the fight for the ‘Champions’ positions. A game in which Cristiano Ronaldo will arrive relieved to see the door again, after being the hero last Sunday against Everton, who will face third-placed Tottenham.

In the case of Graham Potter’s Chelsea, who have three wins in a row, they will travel to Villa Park with the aim of continuing to climb the rankings against an Aston Villa in the doldrums, sixteenth with only two wins that leave Steven Gerrard’s men untouched.

In the middle of the table, Brentford will open the day this Friday against Brighton who want to surprise and get back into Europe, although their defeat (0-1) against Tottenham curbed their expectations.

With the same goal are Bournemouth and Fulham, who will fight to continue in the ‘Top 10’. Unlike Wolverhampyon and Nottingham Forest, both in relegation and rivals this day. Also, bottom side Leicester City will try to do the same against Crystal Palace, once again on the winning path by beating Leeds for their second win this season.
