Pablo Motos reacts to the possible signing of Broncano to compete with him on TVE: “It’s very uncomfortable”

The presenter of The Anthill has put on its debate table one of the hottest topics of recent weeks in the television world and which it advanced Informalia in scoop: the signing of Broncano on TVE by order of Moncloa. A matter with which he himself Pablo Motos has claimed to feel “very uncomfortable” but he has weathered it like good athletes: “Welcome competition.”

The presenter has made it clear that they face competition every day and that there is “nothing more democratic” than the command to change the channel. Motos is not ‘afraid’ of losing an audience (he already won the battle against the Chinese Stories by Jorge Javier, Mediaset’s great bet against the access of Antena 3, which did not last even four weeks) but he has confessed to feeling “uncomfortable” due to the political implications of the signing of the Movistar presenter, a direct order from Moncloa to the public entity. “What bothers me are the TVE workers who must be seeing how they ridicule the prestige of an extraordinary network with extraordinary professionals and I think they do not deserve this game of being in the gatherings,” he said very seriously.

Cristina Pardo y Juan del Val They have lent a hand to the presenter, who did not want to get much more wet. “What seems serious to me is that Moncloa wants to put an end to Pablo Motos. That is something that should never happen on a public channel,” he said. “Have you thought that there is someone over there who has a thing for you?” He asked with a laugh, trying to take the tension out of the moment. “If I were you, he made me look at it.”

A controversial signing

The board of directors of RTVE debated again this Thursday the signing of David Broncano through a tailor-made contract, reformulated in recent days so that it would go ahead after being paralyzed on the afternoon of March 11, the first time it was he argued. The incorporation of the showman was already going to be addressed last week, but the meeting that the nine councilors held on March 26 turned into a stabbing exchange that ended with the dismissal of the president, Elena Sánchez, and her Content Director, José Pablo López. The two had been at war for some time and the ‘Broncano case’ was the last straw.

Concepción Cascajosa, new interim president of RTVE, had called the councilors again to vote on the signing of the presenter, an effort by Moncloa, which wants The resistance compete against The Anthill to weaken Pablo Motos, very critical of Pedro Sánchez. The file to hire Broncano had been reformulated with the aim of him succeeding no matter what. The most important change between the document that failed on the 11th and the one that reached the table for the second time had to do with the duration of the agreement. From three seasons it went to two, with a budget of 14,076,135 euros each. The idea was for TVE to broadcast 160 programs each year, depending on the network’s needs, but the agreement established a minimum of 155 issues, at a rate of 87,795 euros eachto. That is, the production company ensured a minimum turnover of 13,608,225 euros.

The signing of Broncano by RTVE has caused a political earthquake in RTVE, but also a great shock and surprise in the television sector. There are many doubts about the viability of a project that will have to adapt to the codes, language and exposure of a public, general and linear television that will not allow many of the things that The resistance yes it does now.
