Nil Llop premieres Spain's medal stand at the Winter Youth Olympic Games

The Catalan conquered silver in the 500 meters of speed skating

The Spanish Nil Llop Izquierdo has won this Sunday the silver medal in the 500 meter ice skating test, during the third day of the Winter Youth Olympic Games that are being held in Lausanne (Switzerland).

Thus, the Catalan sprinter premiered the historical medal of Spain in a winter Games of this category. And he did it with a final time of 36.60 in the sub-facility installed in Sankt Moritz, where the Japanese Yudai Yamamoto took the gold when crossing the finish line at 36.42; the bronze went to the Chinese Zhiwen Xue, with a record of 36.67.

The success of Llop gave luster to a Spanish delegation that is formed in total by 24 athletes, of which 13 are women and 11 are men. Luisa María González and Carla Álvarez complete the call of the head of mission, Cayetano Cornet, for these speed skating tests.
