Murcia celebrates the Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank

This Sunday, the Plaza de la Catedral de Murcia hosted the stage for the eighth stop of the Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank 2023, with a total of 86 teams and 350 players of all ages, in a day in which 120 matches were played and received a visit from UCAM Murcia player Tadd McFadden.

More than 3,000 visitors, including UCAM Murcia player Tadd McFadden, passed by the place to watch some of the 120 games played, including those in the wheelchair basketball exhibition and practice category, of which CaixaBank is also a sponsor. official via the Spanish Federation of Athletes with Physical Disabilities (FEDDF).

Sunday was marked by the tragedy that occurred at dawn in a nightclub in the city, in which at least 13 people died in a fire, for which the FEB, CaixaBank and the institutions of Murcia decided to cancel the usual institutional event. In its place, a heartfelt minute of silence was observed in memory of the victims.

The event had the support of the Government of the Region of Murcia, the City Council of Murcia and Murcia Deportes, as well as the collaboration of the Basketball Federation of the Region of Murcia and the participation of a team of volunteers assigned to the Volunteer Program FEB-CaixaBank.

The Murcian capital was the eighth stop of the Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank 2023, which started on May 27 in Vigo and has since passed through Córdoba, Toledo, Pamplona, ​​Logroño, Barcelona and Santander. The next appointment of this edition is set for next October 21 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The FEB launched the Plaza 3×3 program in 2012, from its first edition with the help of CaixaBank. Since its start, the circuit has reached 113 stops in 43 cities throughout Spain and has had 50,000 participants and more than 300,000 visitors.

CaixaBank is a sponsoring partner of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) and official sponsor of the Spanish national team, both women’s and men’s, in all its categories, ranging from absolute to under-16, and main sponsor of the Spanish Basketball Federation. Sports for People with Physical Disabilities, with the aim of promoting wheelchair basketball.

In its implementation of the local sponsorship strategy, CaixaBank has collaborated with the main basketball events that have been held in the last decade in Spain, both professional and amateur, transferring the values ​​of the sport to all corners of the country. On the occasion of the Men’s World Cup held in Spain 2014, the FEB and CaixaBank joined forces in order to promote a sports volunteering program that transcended the competition itself: the FEB CaixaBank volunteer program. Seven years later, the program has managed to build a solid community of nearly 23,000 volunteers, who support all official basketball events organized by the FEB.
