More than 200 arrested before Gladbach-Cologne in the Bundesliga

BERLIN, March 9 (dpa/EP) –

More than 200 fans of Borussia Mönchengladbach and Cologne of the German Bundesliga were arrested after incidents recorded before the classic this Saturday, the Police reported.

The agents detailed that 131 “problematic fans” from Gladbach and 74 from Cologne are in custody and would remain there until after today’s afternoon match.

According to the statement, investigations were opened for crimes such as violation of the explosives law, aggravated disturbance of public order and resistance to security forces. Ultras from both teams faced each other on Friday night outside Gladbach’s stadium, with pyrotechnics lit.

A police force of more than one hundred officers was present to keep the rival groups separated, and three officers were injured.
