Míchel Sánchez: “I see options to get through the tie, we just have to win one game”

MADRID, 2 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The coach of Girona, Míchel Sánchez, lamented the defeat (0-1) against Eibar in the first leg of the SmartBank League playoffs, but stated that they have “options to pass the tie” because “they only” have than “winning a game” in Ipurua.

“I see options to pass the tie, we have to win a game. Winning we are in the tie and then if we are not able to win by more than one goal we will have an extension to be able to do it. But it is about winning, we have to get up from this defeat, liberate ourselves much more and know that we can beat anyone in one game”, said Míchel at the press conference after the match played in Montilivi.

“We just have to win, winning we’re inside. We don’t lack a goal, we are the fifth or sixth highest scoring team in the League. But today we had too much precipitation and we lacked football in circulation and rhythm. Too much war to have a player more, we have entered into many individual wars more than collective and that has penalized us. Today we have not had good goal situations”, recognized Míchel.

“Like the league game? I agree, it was a game very similar to the one they beat us in the first leg, they scored a great goal for us but we made the mistake of not putting someone in front of their shot. It has given more options to them and to us, a strong blow,” he added.

In addition, Míchel assured that he did not see the team that has had a great season to finish in the ‘playoffs’. “I haven’t seen our team as we want in terms of rhythm and circulation. We are the second team with the best circulation in the League, we tend to be much more vertical. In the first half, very slow and in the second, many people behind the ball”, said the Girona coach.

“We didn’t have that superiority because we didn’t generate it. In the end, in football, football wins. Neither the atmosphere, nor anything, we have to hurt the rival and everything that is trying to win from the heart in the end does not give you much. We have to go first with a plan and do it as we have said. We have lacked being more collective in the game and it is something that we have in mind that we have to do”, Míchel sentenced.
