MADRID, 21 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev will face the Danish Holger Rune in the final of the Rome tournament, in the Masters 1000 category and which is played on clay, after beating the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas this Saturday 7-5 and 7-5, in a match that was suspended for several hours due to heavy rain over the Italian capital.

On the Central Court of the Foro Itálico, Medvedev benefited more from the stoppage due to the inclement weather of the Roman sky. Having lost serve in the eighth game, the Russian was 4-5 down. However, he got into a much better rhythm at the restart and turned the score around to end up taking the first set in 56 minutes.

In fact, Medvedev broke his opponent’s serve again as soon as the next set began. Despite the fact that Tsitsipas did not give up and leveled the contest in the sixth game (3-3), the Russian hit the table again in the eleventh (6-5) and immediately consolidated his advantage, sealing the victory with a second set of 51 minutes.

Meanwhile, Rune had obtained his ticket for the final match of the tournament in the morning shift, defeating the Norwegian Casper Ruud. Also with a comeback, when he was on the verge of elimination in the middle of the second set, the Danish player finally won by (2) 6-7, 6-4 and 6-2.
