Medvedev, Schwartzman and Zverev are already in the round of 16

Daniil Medvedev, third seed for the title at the Rolex Paris Masters, the Paris Masters 1,000, is already in the round of 16 of the tournament after beating South African Kevin Anderson in his second round match, who retired due to injury in the first set tie-break. Medvedev struggled several times on his Paris hard court debut against Kevin Anderson who seemed to regain that level that allowed him to reach the Wimbledon final in 2018. Both the Russian and the South African were very solid with their serve, which caused the first set to go to a tie-break.

Equality also prevailed in the tiebreaker until Medvedev managed to snatch a minibreak from Anderson to get 2-3 in favor and add the next two points to serve. It was then that Anderson, with discomfort, decided to withdraw from the game so that the injury would not go further, which gave Medvedev the pass to the next round, who will now fight for a place in the quarterfinals before Alex de Miñaur. The Australian beat Lorenzo Sonego, who had just reached the final in Vienna (victory against Djokovic included), by a clear 6-3 and 7-5 in just an hour and a half of meeting. It is the fourth time the 21-year-old has reached the third round of a Masters 1,000, and the second in a row in Paris.

Another tennis player who goes through an exceptional moment of form is the Argentine Diego Schwartzman. 'El Peque' beat the always competitive Richard Gasquet 7-5, 6-3 in less than an hour and a half. Schwartzman had to work hard in the first set, but ended up finding the Frenchman's weaknesses to sentence the match as soon as possible. The Argentine's rival in the round of 16 will be Alejandro Davidovich, who beat Bonzi this Wednesday.

The fourth seed of the tournament played today, and was also victorious. Alexander Zverev didn't sweat too much to get past Miomir Kecmanovic. In 56 minutes, the German was back in the locker room after giving the Serbian a 6-2 double. Very solid from the back of the track, Zverev is going through a great moment that he hopes to continue with his next match. The Frenchman awaits him in the eighth Adrian Mannarino, who after eliminating the Japanese Yoshihito Nisioka by 6-3, 6-7 (5) and 6-3, reaches the eighth of the 1,000 Masters in his country for the first time.

They are also in the round of 16 Milos Raonic and Jordan Thompson. The Canadian once more deployed his cannon to win by a double 6-4 against Herbert, and will face Marcos Giron in the third round, that yesterday he surprised by winning Matteo Berrettini. Another surprise was the Australian's victory Thompson, who has known how to suffer and overcome Borna Coric, and in more than two hours the match has been resolved by 2-6, 6-4 and 6-2.
