‘Medical wars’ in Sevilla

Tremendous controversy in Seville with its medical services. The plague of injuries that continues to affect the Nervión team throughout the season culminated this weekend with the trip of most of its footballers touched to obtain the opinions of other doctors. Papu Gómez, Rekik, Diego Carlos and Martial moved to Madrid to be evaluated by other doctors of their respective muscular problems.

All but Papu, in fact, must have already been in the final stretch or even recovered from their ailments. Martial trained with the group for part of the week and Diego Carlos played half of the derby and was later substituted for what was initially a precaution. Rekik has been gone for three weeks now and his return was already expected for next week.

At the same time that four players were going to the capital of Spain, Fernando was traveling to Portugal so that a trusted specialist could assess the stage of one of his ankles, who has not stopped nagging him throughout this season. In Nervión they hope that the Brazilian does not need to undergo surgery and can play certain games thanks to a conservative treatment. If he were intervened, the pivot would miss the rest of the campaign, a very sensitive loss for Lopetegui.

Lamela returned to the group this week after undergoing shoulder surgery who has had four months off. Suso remains in the infirmary as a long-term sick leave but they don’t stop at Sevilla, rather the ‘medical wars’ are intensifying of this campaign after last year was the one that suffered the fewest injuries. Things have changed radically.
