MADRID, 5 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The American hurdler Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and the Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis were chosen this Monday as the best of the 2022 season by World Athletics, the International Athletics Federation.
McLaughlin-Levrone, 23, was one of the great protagonists of last summer when he improved his own world record in the 400m hurdles with a mark of 51.71 during the ‘Trials’ in his country and later, at the World Championships in Oregon , left him in an impressive 50.68, also achieving his first individual world gold.
For his part, 2022 has been another year of great brilliance for the Swede Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis, the true great dominator of the campaign in the pole vault. The Scandinavian set three new world records (6.19 and 6.20 indoor and 6.21 outdoor), won indoor and outdoor world titles, and jumped 6 meters or more 23 times.
