Matthews adds his third victory in the Giro in the Melfi sprint

Australian rider Michael Matthews, from Team Jayco AlUla, won the sprint of the third stage of the Giro d’Italia this Monday, held between Vasto and Melfi over 216 kilometers, ahead of Danish Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo) and also Australian Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deceuninck).

Michael Matthews added his third victory in the Giro, after the victories in Montecassino in 2014 and Sestri Levante in 2015. The Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) retains the ‘pink jersey’ of leader of the general classification.
