MADRID, 15 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish rider Jaume Masià (Honda) has achieved this Saturday the ‘pole position’ in the Moto3 category, during the Grand Prix of the Americas, while the Italian Celestino Vietti (Kalex) has done the same in Moto2 to snatch that place from him of privilege to the also Spanish Pedro Acosta (Kalex) for only 20 thousandths.

In the third round of the Motorcycle World Championship, on the COTA asphalt in Austin (United States), Masià was the best in the final Q2 in his displacement thanks to a time of 2:16.250. Behind him, Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna) was second for his 2:16.351.

Another Valencian, in this case Iván Ortolá (KTM), was the third in contention after having done his best lap in 2:16.556. Not surprisingly, both Masià and Sasaki and Ortolá had been the strongest Moto3 riders in Friday’s session for the first official practice sessions.

Meanwhile, Celestino Vietti surprised Pedro Acosta to take pole position in the intermediate category. Thus, the Italian from the Fantic Racing team had a best time of 2:09.432 and Acosta registered 2:09.452. Behind them, the Czech Filip Salac (Kalex) was in third position having done a time of 2:09.548.
