The walkers María Pérez and Álvaro Martín were recognized this Saturday as ‘best athletes’ of 2023 at the Spanish athletics gala held in the Goyeneche auditorium at the headquarters of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE).
The two-time world champions in the 20 and 25 kilometer walk last summer in Budapest collected a prize that was no less emotional than expected. In addition, two more walkers took the stage to collect an award: Sofía Santacreu and Daniel Monfort received the ‘Best Athletics Generation Athletes’ Award, to reward those athletes with the greatest progress.
The Spanish athletics gala was attended by Mónica García, Minister of Health, as well as the host, the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco, along with the president of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA), Raúl Chapado.
