Marco Rose: “We need a lot of courage and make the most of transitions”

LEIPZIG (GERMANY), 24 Oct. (dpa/EP) –

The RB Leipzig coach, Marco Rose, advanced that forward Timo Werner will be available against Real Madrid this Tuesday (9:00 p.m.), a duel against “the best team in the world” in which they will need “a lot of courage” and “take advantage of the max” his transition game.

“Werner has trained and is healthy again,” Rose reported at the pre-match press conference. “He won’t be able to play a lot of game time, but I’m happy to have him back in the team,” he added about the striker, in addition to celebrating the return to the squad of attacker Christopher Nkunku, already recovered after an operation on his hand.

Rose valued the absences from Real Madrid of Karim Benzema, Luka Modric and Fede Valverde, assuring that, despite the casualties, they have a “fantastic” squad. “I think we are up against probably the best team in the world. Of course some players are not available, but they are a fantastic team,” he said.

“We will need a lot of courage, not only without the ball, but also with it. We must be compact and make the most of the transition game,” he analyzed about the keys to a possible victory.

For his part, the captain of the German team, Willi Orban, stated that in order to win, they must complete a match similar to the first leg at the Bernabéu. “We defended brilliantly for 80 minutes against a fantastic team. We have to recover from there. If we can be dangerous in attack like we did in Madrid, with a little more efficiency we have a chance of winning,” he explained.

Finally, Rose recalled the founder of Red Bull -the company that promoted this Leipzig-, Dietrich Mateschitz, who died this Saturday, and who will be honored with a minute of remembrance. “It’s a big loss for the club and Red Bull. There are a lot of people who owe him a lot,” the coach said. “I was able to meet him in person, he was honest and funny, I will miss him a lot,” he settled.
