Marc Márquez tests the 2024 Honda: “I need time to evaluate everything correctly”

MADRID, 11 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish MotoGP rider Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) acknowledged that he expected “more” from the Honda for the 2024 season, which he was able to test in a test in Misano this Monday, and regretted that, although it is a “very different” prototype from the current machine, its performance “is the same”, so he assured that it needs “time to think and evaluate everything correctly and calmly” for its future in the Japanese factory.

“I have tested the 2024 bike. Satisfied? Well, yes, the rider always expects more, especially because it is very different, the bike is quite different, the sensation for the rider, the way of riding it, but the performance is the himself,” explained the holder of eight world titles in statements to DAZN reported by Europa Press.

After completing the “best Sunday of the season” at the San Marino Grand Prix, with a hard-fought seventh place, the man from Cervera completed a test this Monday in Misano with the prototype created by Honda for next season. These tests seemed key to trying to convince Márquez to continue with the Japanese brand, when rumors arose of a possible departure to another factory.

After taking several turns on the route, Marc Márquez concluded that they have to “continue understanding, improving and taking steps towards the future” to get closer to “those who set the benchmark right now.” “There are changes, there are new engineers, there are new faces. I need time to think and to evaluate everything correctly and calmly,” concluded an enigmatic Márquez, without clarifying whether he will continue at Honda next season.
