Málaga returns to professional football with an epic in Tarragona

MADRID, 22 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Málaga CF was promoted this Saturday to LaLiga Hypermotion, Second Division of Spanish football, with a draw (2-2) in the second leg of the final playoff against Nàstic de Tarragona, thanks to a goal by Antonio Cordero in the 121st minute.

The 17-year-old player caught a loose ball in the area to score the promotion goal, after the 2-1 first leg at La Rosaleda, at the Nou Estadi Costa Daurada. The Catalan team had forced extra time with Godoy’s 1-0 lead and, in extra time, Santamaría finished turning the tie around for the Catalans.

However, Málaga scored two goals in the second half of extra time. Dioni made it 2-1 and Cordero was the one who took the Andalusians to professional football a year after their relegation to Primera RFEF. This Sunday, Córdoba and Barça B will play for another ticket to Second Division at the Nuevo Arcángel, after the 1-1 draw in the first leg.
