Liverpool knock Arsenal out of the FA Cup

Manchester City thrashed on Kevin de Bruyne's return

MADRID, 7 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Liverpool beat Arsenal (0-2) this Sunday in the third round of the FA Cup, another declaration of intentions from the 'red' team in a season that is going perfectly, while Manchester City beat Huddersfield (5-0) Town on the return after injury to Kevin de Bruyne.

Jürgen Klopp's men beat Mikel Arteta's men at the Emirates, punishing the London team for the chances they forgave. From the first minutes it was seen that Arsenal were not having their day in front of the goal, with a ball hitting the crossbar from Martin Odegaard. Trent Alexander-Arnold also scored for the visitors, although Liverpool were more of a spectator.

The 'red' team endured their moment away from home and, 10 minutes from the end, from a free kick by Alexander-Arnold, Kiwior made it 0-1 with an own goal. Liverpool finished killing on the counterattack, with a great goal from Luis Diaz, to knock Arsenal out of the FA Cup and continue in steamroller mode: in the round of 16 of the Europa League, semi-finals of the League Cup and leaders of the Premier.

Furthermore, Manchester City had no problems beating a rival at the Etihad Stadium that is fighting in the lower part of the English second division. However, the goals were long in coming, like the return of De Bruyne who, after being injured in the Champions League final, fell in his season opener in August.

The Belgian's return was in the second half, when the City scored a victory that celebrated the goals of Phil Foden, Julián Álvarez and Jeremy Doku. The biggest surprise of the day was the playoff match that Bristol City, from the Championship (Second Division), forced against West Ham at the London Stadium (1-1).
