Who to succeed Kylian Mbappé at the UNFP trophies?
Who says end of the season, certainly says trophy, but the cup being already promised in Paris Saint-Germain, let’s leave aside the collective essence of football, to look at the individual. Yes, it’s ugly, it’s not the spirit of sport, bla-bla-bla, you’re right.
The fact remains that the UNFP trophies (the National Union of Professional Footballers) are held tomorrow, Sunday, and that Ligue 1 is concerned in four categories. The most scrutinized being that of the best player of the season-privatized five seasons of rank by ex-Parisian Kylian Mbappé-and who should be won by Ousmane Dembélé, author of a 2024-2025 exercise that can be blownly called a pomp with 21 goals and 6 assists.
The French striker will be surrounded by several of his teammates, namely: Achraf Hakimi, Vitinha and Désiré Doué. Only Lyonnais Rayan Cherki managed to invite himself into this shortlist very Parisian-Parisian.
PSG is also in the running – and favorite – for the trophies of the best coach (Luis Enrique), best hope (Joao Neves and Désiré Doué), as well as the best goalkeeper (Gianluigi Donnarumma being however struggling with Lille Lucas Chevalier, or the Strasbourgeois Djordje Petrovic).
Kylian Mbappé, now resident of Real Madrid, could however resurface in another category, namely that of the best French player playing abroad, where he will compete with Jules Koundé (FC Barcelona), Michael Olise (Bayern Munich), Mike Maignan (AC Milan) and William Saliba (Arsenal).
