Levante Femenino is eliminated in the first qualifying phase of the Champions League

Defeat (2-3) of the ‘granota’ team, which wasted a 2-0 against Twente

MADRID, 9 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Levante Women were eliminated this Saturday in the first qualifying phase of the 2023/24 Champions League, thanks to their 2-3 defeat against FC Twente and having wasted a 2-0 in the final of this quadrangular tournament, played in the Dutch town of Enschede.

Despite taking the lead with a goal from Paula Tomás Serer, in the 14th minute, and with another from Alba Redondo, in the 20th minute, the ‘granota’ team saw its advantage neutralized before reaching the break. Renate Jansen (34′) and Marit Auée (43′) made it 2-2 with their goals and filled the Sportpark Schreurserve with nerves.

With the crowd rallied in favor of the locals, Levante was not intimidated and continued looking for the goal defended by Danielle De Jong. However, Levante’s momentum was not rewarded and to make matters worse, Sophie Te Brake culminated Twente’s comeback with her goal in the 69th minute, from a pass from Liz Rijsbergen.

This result determined the Enschede club as the winner of the home run and, thus, qualified it for the second qualifying phase of this Champions League. In this instance, Real Madrid will enter the fray along with other important teams such as VfL Wolfsburg, Paris Saint-Germain, Sparta Prague, Häcken and Manchester United.
