Letizia, about the absences of Leonor and Sofía: “We have all had gastroenteritis at some time”

The Kings Felipe VI y Joyaccompanied by the President of the Principality of Asturias, Adrian Barbónhave presided over the award ceremony for the Exemplary People of Asturias Award to Cadavedo in the absence of Leonor. Although the princess he has arrived with his parents very smiling this Sunday morning to the town of Valdes, a while later she had to go to the hotel in Oviedo where they are staying because she felt unwell, like her sister Sofia.

Instead, Doña Letizia has spoken: “Leonor and Sofía had to be on this stage. We miss them. Sofía had a bad night. Leonor made an effort but she was regular when she got up. It’s gastroenteritis, something It made them feel bad. We have to go back to Cadavedo with the two of them.”




In the speech read by her mother, Leonor highlighted how traditions combined with a sustainable economy are preserved in Cadavéu. A situation that has led the parish to increase services and diversify “until achieving something as difficult in rural areas as the school is still very much alive and, each time, with more students enrolled.” Thus, she was grateful for the welcome and for being able to discover “the generous spirit that is in the hearts of Asturians”.
