Lebrón-Galán and Triay-Salazar are crowned at the Estrella Damm Menorca Open

MADRID, 23 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spaniards Juan Lebrón and Alejandro Galán have been proclaimed champions of the Estrella Damm Menorca Open 2022, a test of the World Padel Tour, after beating the Spanish-Argentine duo formed by Xisco Gil and Ramiro Moyano (6-4, 4-6, 6-2), while Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar did the same by beating Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría (6-1, 7-5) in the women’s final.

At the Pavelló Menorca, the number one couple in the world suffered to defeat the great surprise of the tournament, the number 18 in the ranking, who posed a battle in the three sets that the final lasted. A ‘break’ in the first game of the match was enough for Lebrón and Galán to win the first set, in which their rivals wasted a break ball to equalize the partial.

In the second set, the services were imposed in the first bars (4-4) and it was not until the tenth game when Moyano and Gil, with 5-4 in their favor, managed to break the serve of the number one to tie the duel in Menorcan lands.

Everything had to be decided in the third round, where Lebrón and Galán did not give an option with two breaks that earned them to close the match and to raise their seventh trophy of 2022.

Two more titles, nine, accumulate Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar, couple number two in the ranking, this year, after beating Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría this Sunday in a fight with number one in the World Padel Tour ranking as a backdrop.

Triay, who was playing at home, and Salazar started with a 5-0 win against the world number one that would ultimately offer them a comfortable victory in the opening set. With a ‘break’ on each side at the start of the second round, the eleventh game would be definitive, with the Menorcan and the Madrilenian breaking to materialize their victory and the title.
