Las Palmas reinforces its promotion options in Alcorcón

A free kick goal Jonathan Viera in the first part and another Robert Gonzalez in added time allowed UD Las Palmas to win a victory that keeps them in the fight for promotion against a Alcorconwho did not react until midway through the second half and who once again demonstrated his offensive lack as a bottom player.

With no room for error to continue narrowing down the options to enter promotion, UD Las Palmas arrived in Santo Domingo unceremoniously and, with one step ahead of their rival, from the beginning they gave the impression of looking for the goal with more zeal than their rival.

Jesé Rodríguez and Kirian Rodríguez were the first to try their luck with two long shots that met Jesús Ruiz, very attentive to clear the danger of a corner.

At the third the potter goalkeeper did not hit, who saw how Jonathan Viera, with a free-kick shot adjusted to his right post, opened the scoring from a set piece.

The goal did justice to the drive of the Canarian team, which before the break scored another two more occasions in the boots of Kirian Rodríguez, but in none of them did he manage to finish off between the three sticks.

In the second half the match changed. The conformity shown by UD Las Palmas translated into relaxation and gave wings to Alcorcón, who began to gain meters on rival ground and prowl around the Gran Canaria team’s area, although without the necessary depth to make them suffer.

Fran Fernández, coach of Alcorcón, moved his bench when he saw that step back from his rival and brought in Oscar Arribas and Borja Valle, two players who gave their team another offensive variation in search of a goal that was close to coming in the final minutes.

In added time, when Las Palmas seemed to be worse, Rober González invented an individual move, first with a self-pass and second with a cut to an Alcorcón defender inside the area, before placing the ball to launch a shot close to the post left of the pottery gate.
