Lamine Yamal enters EURO history as the youngest to debut

MADRID, 15 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The national team player Lamine Yamal was “very happy” for Spain’s 3-0 victory over Croatia, and for his historic debut in the Euro Cup, where he became the youngest to play in the tournament, while explaining who have been demonstrating that they are “a very effective team”.

“Very happy, especially for the team’s victory and for the debut. We have to continue, think about the next game,” said Lamine Yamal in statements to TVE, reported by Europa Press, after the game at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.

The FC Barcelona player made his debut in the great continental event for national teams at the age of 16 and went from less to more fulfilling his role on the right wing. “We had to give the team space, be able to play inside, and everything that can help the team, that’s how I will be,” he commented.

“We have come out with a lot of confidence, we are a very effective team, we are showing it in every game, so we are very happy. The work of these months has paid off,” said the FC Barcelona footballer.

Yamal entered the history books of the Euro Cup with his 16 years and 338 days that made him the youngest footballer to play in the competition, surpassing the Polish Kacper Kozlowski in almost a year, who precisely had that honor after playing in the last edition in the 1-1 against the Spanish team, and being the first under 17 years of age to do so.

The Blaugrana winger, already the youngest in the history of the national team to debut and score when he did so last September against Georgia, started against the Croats and played almost the entire match, being replaced in the 86th minute by Ferran Torres . His was the assist to make it 3-0, the work of Dani Carvajal.
