LALIGA will broadcast Barça-Celta in sign language on Movistar

On the occasion of the International Day of Sign Languages ​​2023, LALIGA will broadcast the match between FC Barcelona and RC Celta de Vigo, corresponding to matchday 6 and which will be played at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys at 6:30 p.m., on Movistar LALIGA TV 3 in sign language and through the national signal.

“For LALIGA it is a unique opportunity to give visibility to the linguistic identity and cultural diversity of deaf people and all those who use sign language in their daily lives,” the entity said in a statement.

In the national signal of the match, broadcast on Movistar LALIGA TV 3, the screen will be personalized with an interpreter who will offer a descriptive narration of the match through sign language.

“This initiative allows all LALIGA fans to celebrate International Sign Language Day by incorporating their passion for their teams through the interpretation of signs,” LALIGA noted.

According to the World Federation of the Deaf, there are approximately 70 million deaf people worldwide. More than 80 percent live in developing countries.
