Laia Aleixandri: “We are very convinced of beating Germany”

MADRID, 10 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish international Laia Aleixandri has assured that they are “very convinced” of being able to beat Germany in their second game of the European Championship in England, where they will need to have “pause and calm” to be able to “put their game before their rival’s.”

“We are very convinced of beating Germany, that is the step forward that we have to take. We are correcting situations to be comfortable when they happen again, to feel comfortable in transitions and to have that pause and that calm to put our game first Germany to get a good result,” he declared at a press conference.

In this sense, the Catalan defense stressed that ‘la Roja’ will never give up their style. “You always have to put your style of play first. Germany is a direct rival, very powerful, and you have to take into account the small nuances that can make you win or lose. Spain has to feel comfortable, they have to be in their style of game, taking into account that he has a powerful rival in front of him,” he said. “We are confident, we are a team that if we dominate in the areas where we feel comfortable, we are very powerful,” he added.

In addition, he stressed that the difficulties have made them unite more as a team. “We are a very united group, especially after the events that have been happening to us along this path towards the European Championship. Positive reinforcements always exist, the group is united and motivated,” he said.

The one from Santa Coloma de Gramanet already had “the luck” to play minutes in the debut against Finland. “It’s always a privilege. They were important minutes to add, to help the team and to get that result that pushed us so much ahead of the game against Germany,” he stressed, even if it wasn’t in his natural position.

“At the club, my position is center back, it’s where I’ve evolved much more. Here in the national team I’ve been able to occupy the position of winger and pivot. I feel the complete trust of my teammates, who support me a lot. I want to contribute and help the team to the maximum,” he said.

Finally, regarding the high temperatures that are taking place in England, Laia believes that they may be “one more factor” in her favor. “We have brought the good weather with us. We are comfortable; the preparation we have done in Madrid with a lot of heat has made us get used to it. I don’t think the weather will affect the result much either, but it is one more factor,” she concluded.
