Kenyans Josphat Mutisya and Maurine Jemutai, winners of the Ibiza Half Marathon

The Kenyan athletes Josphat Mutisya and Maurine Jemutai were proclaimed this weekend, with their record records in the event, the respective winners of the male and female category of an Ibiza Half Marathon dominated by Kenya.

In the men’s race, Josphat Mutisya was the great dominator and won with a time of 1:01:49, breaking the current record of the event that dated from 2019 and leading his compatriot Peter Kariuki by 20 seconds, while the podium it was also completed by Nehemiah Kipyegon. The Ibizan Daniel Planells was the best Spaniard, in sixth place with 1:10:50.

And it is that Kenya made this Ibiza Half Marathon its particular ‘party’ since it also dominated the women’s modality with Maurine Jemutai, who broke the 2022 record with a time of 1:10:52 and who was unstoppable for the rest of the rivals , being also the seventh overall. Nancy Jepleting, also from Kenya, was second, more than five minutes away, and third place went to María Jesús Pallicer from Menorca.
