MADRID, 17 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Australian cyclist Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deceuninck) won this Sunday in the 21st and final stage of the Vuelta a España 2023, a finish that was competed until the finish line in the Paisaje de la Luz, where the Jumbo-Visma signed its podium with the American Sepp Kuss, Danish Jonas Vingegaard and Slovenian Primoz Roglic.
The closing of the Spanish round had everything in its last 100 kilometers that began at the Zarzuela Hippodrome. There was time to pay tribute to a Jumbo that monopolized the podium and, with Kuss, took over the big three on the calendar. Vingegaard, Tour champion, and Roglic, Giro champion, accompanied Kuss who, at 29 years old, achieved the greatest success of his career.
Upon entering the Paseo de la Castellana circuit, a breakaway put the peloton in check and the Vuelta was exciting until the end. The breakaway was of quality and, with the peloton pressing on their wheels, Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) launched the sprint a little early in search of his fourth stage victory and Groves was the one who imposed his law, his third victory in this edition, ahead of the Italian Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grendiers).
