Jorge Campillo achieves his third victory in the DP World Tour in Kenya

MADRID, 12 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish golfer Jorge Campillo won the Magical Kenya Open this Sunday, his third victory on the European Tour, currently called the DP World Tour, with a two stroke advantage over the Japanese Masahiro Kawamura.

Santiago Tarrío and Borja Virto, third and fifth, completed a great Spanish week in Kenya. The player from Extremadura began the last round at the Muthaiga Golf Club with a one shot advantage over the Scotsman Robert MacIntyre, and with a final round of 66 shots (-5), with six ‘birides’ and a single ‘bogey’, he was proclaimed champion.

With this victory, Campillo, who won again three years later, joins his name to illustrious Spanish players who also won in this tournament such as Seve Ballesteros, in 1978, José María Cañizares, in 1984, and Jordi García Pinto, in 2013, when the test belonged to the Challenge Tour.

“It is important to put my name together with other great players, I am very proud, for a Spaniard to be in the same trophy with Seve Ballesteros is very special”, said Jorge Campillo.
