More than 600 swimmers will participate in the 44th edition of the tournament, second stage of the Mare Nostrum circuit

The 44th edition of the Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona, ​​the second stage of the Mare Nostrum circuit and one of the most outstanding competitions on the swimming calendar, will bring together 629 swimmers from more than 40 countries at the CN from May 17 to 18 Sant Andreu.

The tournament, organized by CN Sant Andreu and the Catalan Swimming Federation, will feature elite athletes such as the Spaniards Jessica Vall, África Zamorano, Lidón Muñoz and Joan Lluís Pons, the Americans Michael Andrew and Lydia Jacoby, and the Japanese Tomoru Honda and Rikako Ikee.

This was advanced by the president of CN Sant Andreu, Àngel Bernet, at the press conference organized this Tuesday, which included the participation of the sports councilor of the Barcelona City Council, David Escudé, the president of the Catalan Swimming Federation, Ramon Bosch , and the swimmers qualified for the Fukuoka World Cup, Jessica Vall, África Zamorano, Emma Carrasco and Ainhoa ​​Campabadal.

The Trofeu Ciutat de Barcelona will once again qualify for the world championship. “We will see athletes giving their all in the series to achieve the minimum”, detailed Bernet, who pointed out that the competition, in the only European circuit of clubs and federations, is one of “the most prestigious in Europe”.

The swimmers will arrive in Barcelona with the aim of preparing for the World Cup in Fukuoka (Japan) and surpassing their personal bests. After competing in the Pere Serrat, they will continue their participation in the next stop of the Mare Nostrum circuit, which will take place in Monaco from May 20 to 21.

In this edition, Sant Andreu internationals Jessica Vall, África Zamorano, Emma Carrasco, Ainhoa ​​Campabadal and Joan Lluís Pons will compete with swimmers from 46 countries around the world in a unique opportunity to bring professional swimming closer to the people of Barcelona.

“It is important to recognize the work of the club to bring together more than 600 swimmers here. What we promote is that the different categories come to see us, to watch the swimming live and get the little ones to want to continue swimming”, remarked Jordi Jou, technical director of CN Sant Andreu.
