Jenni Hermoso files a complaint against Luis Rubiales for the non-consensual kiss

She had 15 days to present the formal complaint and it was on Tuesday, September 5, when Jenni Hermoso formalized it before the Prosecutor’s Office.

The champion of the Women’s National Team Jennifer Hermoso has formally filed her complaint against the former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, after he kissed her on the podium at the Sydney stadium. The non-consensual kiss took place at the time of the delivery of the medals. Hermoso appeared before the State Attorney General’s Office of the National Court to formally denounce Rubiales.

It was on August 28 when the Prosecutor’s Office opened proceedings against the suspended director of the RFEF for a possible crime of sexual assault. The public prosecutor’s office then offered the player the possibility of denouncing her for this alleged crime, after the soccer player herself clarified that the kiss on her mouth was non-consensual.

Hermoso’s account was as follows: “The words of Mr. Luis Rubiales explaining the unfortunate incident are categorically false and part of the manipulative culture that he himself has generated.” The soccer player added: “At no time did the conversation to which he referred take place and, far from it, his kiss was consented. I felt vulnerable and the victim of an attack, an impulsive, macho act, out of place and without any kind of consent on my part.”
