The Spanish rider Jaume Masià (Honda) has been awarded the pole this Saturday for the Moto3 race of the San Marino Grand Prix, the twelfth round of the motorcycle World Championship, ahead of the Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna) and Kaito Toba (Honda) , while the leader of the category, the Spanish Dani Holgado (KTM), will start eighth.
The one from Algemesí, the fastest on Friday at the Misano-Marco Simoncelli Circuit and second last week in Barcelona, responded to his favoritism with a best time of 1:41.638, two tenths better than that of his Japanese rivals. With this, he achieves his third first starting position of the course.
On the hot day on the San Marino track, Sasaki, second in the championship 13 points behind the leader, crashed in the first moments of Q2 but still managed to settle on the front row, which will be closed by his compatriot Toba.
For his part, Holgado had to go through Q1 for the second consecutive Grand Prix; He managed to advance to Q2 and finally guaranteed himself an eighth starting position, just behind the also Spanish David Muñoz (KTM), who also passed a Q1 in which he recovered from a ‘highside’ in turn 8.
Among the rest of the Spaniards, José Antonio Rueda (KTM) will start twelfth, ahead of Iván Ortolá (KTM), who this Saturday confirmed that he will race with the MTHelmets-MSi structure next year.
