Former cyclist Igor González de Galdeano, one of the 12 Spaniards who have worn the yellow ‘jersey’ of the Tour, has presented his first book, ‘Pedaleando towards success’, in which he offers keys such as teamwork, emotional management, personal balance, humility or discipline to succeed in sport and business.
The event, presented by Marta Prieto, CEO of Editorial Kolima, was also attended by former cyclist Samuel Sánchez, Olympic champion in Beijing 2008, director Ramiro Bengochea and Javier Fernández Aguado, founder of MindValue, who participate in the book, together with the president of the COE Alexander White.
‘Pedaling towards success’ exposes the similarities that concur in the career of a company professional with responsibility for people and a high-level athlete. This practice requires a level of commitment and responsibility very similar to that of executive management.
“The real challenge for me has been to write this book. More difficult than my professional challenges. It has been an honor to be able to present it in a place as imposing as the COE and surrounded by all of you”, commented Igor González de Galdeano.
In the words of Ramiro Bengochea, writer of the prologue, cooperation is one of the pillars in his personal and professional life. “Igor has cooperation and teamwork in his DNA,” he noted.
Samuel Sánchez stressed that Igor has given him “values” and “advice on work and life, professionally but also personally”. “Advice from a true leader,” said Sánchez.
For his part, the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco, presented Igor with the Olympic diploma for his participation in the 2004 Athens Olympics.
“Igor has made it clear to us that whoever wants to achieve success has to do it in all areas of his life and by being himself. I have no doubt that he has not only been a very complete cyclist but also a person who is a professional inside and outside the sport,” said Blanco.
