From Alcorconazo to Alcoyanazo. Eleven years later, Real Madrid was eliminated again in the Cup (in its different names) and on the pitch at the first exchange. The Cup recovered the two-legged qualifiers, but did not lose the surprises in charge of Second B teams. In 2008-2009 the Royal Union they won 3-2 in the first leg at the Stadium Gal and in the second leg at the Bernabéu they achieved a creditable 4-3 with a decisive goal from Eneko Romo in the 89th minute. Far from learning the lesson the following season Madrid suffered one of the greatest humiliations in its history in Alcorcón (4-0) and was powerless in the return (1-0).
Between the Alcorconazo and the Alcoyanazo, just a blur. The one from the 2015-2016 season, when Cheryshev's improper alignment made Carranza's 1-3 win to no avail. The second leg was not even played. Five seasons later, the one-game format resurrected, Madrid's career in the Cup ends again at the first corner.
