Henry will lead Olympic France in Paris 2024

The former soccer player, new U-21 coach

The French coach Thierry Henry was chosen this Monday by the French Football Federation (FFF) as the new Under-21 coach of France, facing the qualifying phase for the European Championship 2025 and the aforementioned Olympic event in Paris 2024.

“The French Football Federation is pleased to announce the appointment of Thierry Henry as head coach of the France Espoirs (Under-21) team, for a period of two years, until 2025. Gérald Baticle will join Thierry Henry’s team as assistant coach.” says the official statement.

The 1998 world champion and 2000 European champion will announce his first list of players on Thursday, August 31, for the next two matches against Denmark in a friendly (Thursday, September 7 in Nancy) and in Slovenia in the framework of the qualifying phase for Euro 2025 (Monday, September 11 in Koper).

From the FFF they highlight the importance of the Olympic Games next summer in which they will be the host country, as an “important objective for the Federation”. As a coach, Henry, who was elected at the meeting of the FFF Executive Committee, served as an assistant in the Belgium team and led AS Monaco (October 2018-January 2019) and CF Montreal (November 2019-February 2021).
