“Having lost the Cup final does not upset me”

Marcelino tries to recover little by little from the blow that lost the Cup final against Real. A derby against Alavés awaits tomorrow for Athletic and another Cup final the following Saturday. The Asturian coach recalls that his team was already able to knock down Koeman's team a few weeks ago in the Super Cup final.

When asked how he was feeling days after the defeat at La Cartuja, Marcelino was clear. “Well, it could be better. I do not forget why it was very hard, but I am optimistic. I have a squad that I am very proud to manage. Good professionals, good players and I know their ability and professionalism, ”he indicated in the first instance.

The rojiblanco coach continued with his explanation in this regard: “I don't know if it was the hardest stick since I was a coach, but it will take me a long time to forget it, if I ever forget it. That stimulates me, praises me, with pride, wanting to reverse the situation. Having lost the final does not upset me. Hurt yes, forgotten no and never defeated”.

The coach made it clear that Athletic's dressing room is getting better every day after the cup beat. “Not fully recovered, but the response against Real, in a difficult league game, was good. The team is trying to overcome a very, very hard blow and has recovered certain aspects of the game that make us competitive. In a difficult moment, we solved it well ”, he pointed out.
