“Giving names now for Athletic seems reckless to us”

Ricardo Barkala, pre-candidate for the presidency of Athletic, made it clear yesterday that he is not yet giving names” in the campaign because he sees it as “reckless” when the Bilbao first team plays its European options this Sunday against Sevilla at the Sánchez Pizjuán.

When citing the name Julen Jon Guerrero, Barkala assured that “everything that is likely to be signed by Athletic, from the outset, sounds good to me”. He then explained that “we have spoken with possible technicians and with possible managers for Lezama, we have contacted within the range and radar of players who are on the market and their incorporation to Athletic may be affordable and viable and we are in those, but we are not yet saying names because it seems reckless to us at this time.”

This pre-candidate stressed that “I have talked about it with those responsible for Athletic and we are very focused and very respectful of what happens on Sunday at ten o’clock at night at the Sánchez Pizjuán. It would be great news for the entire Athletic family to first do our homework and win in Seville, which is what corresponds to us, and then wait until Villarreal doesn’t win at the Camp Nou”.
